ALBUM REVIEW: TEGAN AND SARA - HEARTTHROB

Tegan & Sara are one of those much appreciated indie duo's that have been around for years, always pumping out great tunes from the early stuff in their career (their 4th album, So Jealous, was where they really struck gold with tracks 'Walking with a Ghost', 'Where do the good go', 'You wouldn't like me' and 'Take me anywhere') up to this new album which is their Seventh Studio album, to be released in 3 days. Their new album is a different direction for them, they've dived head first into Pop territory and honestly I think it's the best thing they could have done. Their voices actually work so well with the beats. To me 'Heartthrob' has been the easiest album to connect with

The album opener 'Closer' was the first single which got me real excited for what was to come, it was such a shock to hear the synths and upbeat pop beats.

Track two 'Goodbye, Goodbye' is like the break up song of 2013.

'I Was a Fool' is like 'Goodbye, Goodbye's' much more sombre, bitter twin sister and is definitely a personal favourite of mine.


'I'm Not Your Hero' is another great track which was released as a teaser continues the love lost moment which is actually musical bliss. the chorus is beautiful


track 6 'How Come You Don't Want Me' is kinda heart breaking and could definitely make you cry if you've ended a relationship.

My absolute favourite track is 'Love They Say' it's so beautiful. It instills a calmness that none of the other tracks have so far and I think thats why I love it, it's also a change from all the heart break, its like a slice of hope amidst a pool of broken hearts.

'Now I'm All Messed Up' throws you right back to the loss "..go (please stay), go (please stay) go if you want, I can't stop you" 


Greg Kurstin had a major hand in the album which is probably why it's such great pop (he's totally working with Sia on her new album right now too)

To sum up, this album is raw, it's heartfelt, it's brave and it's fanFUCKINGtastic, It will definitely be on my constant rotation for the coming months and even if you're not a fan of them I think that this album could convert you!

Album is released on the 29th of Jan in US, 8th of feb in AUS and 11 of feb in EUROPE.
